The Senate Will Decide

With the House blocking anti-horse slaughter amendments to 2018 spending legislation, the fate of America's wild horses and burros now rests with the Senate.

The Interior Appropriations Subcommittee, led by Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), chair, and ranking member Tom Udall (D-NM), will decide whether to maintain longstanding protections for wild horses and burros against mass killing and slaughter. The hearing on this bill is scheduled for the week of September 18. That means we have just over a week to let the Senate know where Americans stand on the protection of our iconic wild horses and burros.
